2024 Cadillac XT4 vs. Audi Q3

Luxurious Cadillac technology is matched with an undeniably modern look in Cadillac’s smallest SUV offering, the Cadillac XT4. This subcompact luxury SUV is new for the 2024 model year, making the already solid XT4 and that much more desirable. New exterior styling is present, with updated LED lighting and a brand new front fascia, new wheel designs and an updated bumper. On the inside, the 2024 XT4 is adapting a 33” Advanced Diagonal LED display and available 14-speaker AKG premium audio experience. That’s also just highlighting a few of the new features of the 2024 XT4, however, as impressive as the new 2024 XT4 is, the luxury SUV segment is extremely competitive. It’s a difficult decision to choose a new vehicle that requires weighing options and research. Thankfully at McGee Motors Cadillac, we’ve done the hard work for you. Our team has compared the new 2024 XT4 with a tough competitor in the Audi Q3. Follow along with us as we go through the key features and highlights of each SUV and see which vehicle is superior.

Performance Battle

Standard across all XT4 models, we have a turbocharged 2.0 L engine that makes 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The sole powertrain option on the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and is available in FWD and AWD variants. For Ontario’s more precarious seasons, we like the twin-clutch AWD system available for the Luxury trim. Rounding out the performance specs for the XT4 are active fuel management, drive mode selector, and an available active sport suspension.
Exploring the Audi Q3, the standard 2.0L offered falls short when compared to the power of the XT4. Upgrading to a 45 TFSI model on the Q3 boosts the power to 228 hp, however bumps the minimum cost of $46,550 MSRP. The Q3 gets an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard quattro AWD technology, and Audi drive select. Head-to-head, both vehicles offer comparable standard tech, and very close performance specifications when both properly equipped within a close price point. For now, these vehicles are neck and neck.
Interior & Exterior Design

Coming into the 2024 model year, design is a massive strength for the new XT4, as there are many notable upgrades that make this luxury SUV that much more appealing. A new front fascia is gorgeously shaped by updated LED headlights with standard Intellibeam technology. Drivers will also find new standard 18” alloy wheels, along with available unique 19” and 20” options. It’s apparent that the new XT4 borrows styling cues from the groundbreaking Cadillac LYRIQ EV as you turn heads down every road. Stepping inside, experience a luxurious and roomy feel. The 2024 XT4 proudly boasts the best rear legroom in its class at 1,003 mm, making every journey for your passengers that much more enjoyable. The driver is also surrounded with premium features and comforts, including the Inteluxe seating surfaces, 60/40 split folding rear seats, active noise cancellation, and more.
The Audi Q3 offers more restrained styling that you would come to expect from luxury SUVs earlier in the decade that is undoubtedly classy. However, without a major style update since 2019, the Q3 lacks in comparison to the XT4. Small luxurious touches make up the differences here. The 18" Tri 5-spoke alloy wheels with Bright Silver finish on the XT4 Luxury AWD model, outclasses the 17” 5-spoke wheels on the Q3. The XT4 features aluminum sill plates while the Q3 comes standard with plastic. Though both vehicles offer a similar lineup of standard equipment, the comfort and style edge goes to the 2024 XT4.
Technology & Safety

Offering a plethora of standard technology and safety features, while introducing some impressive new tech borrowed from pricer models, the XT4 offers drivers an unmatched experience. Cadillac’s head-up display is available, so is wireless charging, HD surround vision and more. However, one of the most stunning new features is the 33” diagonal advanced colour LED display with Google built-in, offering a one-of-a-kind artful experience that is unique to Cadillac. View more than a billion colours while experiencing media in 9k resolution. Built-in Google and Alexa digital assistants help assist on your journey as well, available simply by the command of your voice. Moving onto safety, the XT4 features Cadillac Smart System, with more than 12 standard advanced safety features. Highlighted features on the 2024 Cadillac XT4 include:
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Automatic Emergency Braking System
- Forward Collision Alert
- Safety Alert Seat
- Rear Seat Reminder
- Rear Park Assist
- HD Vision Camera
- Teen Driver
- Vehicle Diagnostics
Exploring the safety and technology that the Audi has to offer, we see several parallels between the Q3 and XT4. A comprehensive suite of standard safety technology is offered on the Q3. Both vehicles have fantastic premium audio experiences available, the 14-speaker AKG Studio system (XT4) and the 15-speaker SONOS 3D sound system (Q3). Where you start to notice more of a difference is looking at the more premium features available in the XT4 that the Q3 omits. The XT4 sports quite a few more technologies available that make it feel like a more premium vehicle than the Q3, highlighted by its inclusion of an available head-up display, wireless charging of course the much more modern infotainment centre with the 33” curved LED display.
XT4 vs. Q3 Verdict
Though the performance battle between these two compact luxury SUVs is close, when it comes to style and technology, the XT4 dwarfs the Q3. When properly outfitted, the XT4 feels like a significantly more premium ride than the Q4, with brand-new exterior styling, and noticeably higher-end technology available, we think that puts the Cadillac over the top.
